She leads the activities of this support network. She has worked at Brunel University for many years – leading teacher-training courses, Masters and doctoral research degree programmes, as well as carrying out extensive research in talent development, gifted education and mathematics education. She works with a team of experts in Education, Wellbeing, Mathematics learning and Critical Thinking. In the past she was a primary school teacher and a member of the mathematics advisory team for the Inner London Education Authority (ILEA). Valsa founded the Brunel Able Children’s Education Centre (BACE) at Brunel University, the first university-based Centre for Talent Development, in 1995. She has supported hundreds of children, LEAs, teachers and parents to identify and nurture children’s gifts, talents and help them reach potential. She was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen in 2019, for her contribution to education for many decades.
